Camel Phone as a Stop Smoking Aid

The Camel Cigarette Phone is a landline phone shaped just like the box of everyone’s favorite brand of death sticks. The buttons are revealed by sliding the box top upwards. This might just work for that ex-smoker that wants to substitute smoking cigs for chewing your ear off on a phone that looks like a pack of smokes. Instead of picking up a box of Camels, they can pick up a Camel Phone. Or they could just use the stop smoking patch and talk on a regular phone like a normal human being. Whatever works for ya.

Self Closing Pacifier Keeps Itself Clean

The self closing pacifier is an ingenious little gizmo for your baby gadgeteers. The BébéSounds® AlwaysClean Pacifier has a silicone shield that closes upon the nipple like a venus flytrap on a bug when it’s released from the child’s mouth, thus sparing it from coming into contact with your disgusting floors.

Now you never have to wipe your binky off on your shirt (that almost sounds dirty) or sweep your floors again. The shield is contoured to the shape of your baby’s mouth and has ventilation holes for air. And of course it still does nothing to spare the parent from the wrath of the flying pacifier to the face. But that’s another invention for another day.

Water Bottle iPod Cellphone Holder is Basically a Rubber Band

The Pocket Bottle is being marketed as a gym, bicycle, and auto accessory designed to hold your iPod, iPhone, cell phone, PDA, credit card, keychain, or a snack. It can fit in the cupholder of your car or the water bottle holder in your bicycle. The Pocket Bottle comes with 7 bands to strap in your device. At $12.50 it seems a bit pricey for something that is basically JUST A RUBBER BAND. But if you feel secure strapping in your credit cards, car keys, or Zune to a plastic bottle, by all means go for it.

GloPillow Wakes You Up By Lighting Up

The GloPillow has an LED fabric substrate below the surface which slowly increases light intensity to gently wake you up. “This natural waking process helps to set the circadian rhythm or “body clock” and results in more healthy sleep/wake patterns”. Even cooler- it can also display the time in LED’s right on the pillow fabric. Definitely much more peaceful than the blasting alarm clock. Maybe they could combine this with the bluetooth perCushion to make one superpillow.

Neverending Rock Climbing Wall Treadmill Gym Apparatus

The TreadWall by Brewer’s Ledge is a combination rock climbing wall and treadmill, sort of like the travelator on American Gladiators but much tougher.

Now you can get the full climbing workout without having to install a 30 foot ceiling addition to your home gym. It can even be mounted flat against a wall.

The TreadWall has auto-stop technology and is motorless. There is no need to put on crotch hugging harnesses since unlike other climbing walls you are never more than a few feet off the ground. You can quickly change both the speed of ascent and the angle for an optimum workout. Brewer’s Ledge even makes a smaller more colorful version for kids. The TreadWall is not cheap at around $8-10,000 but it’s certainly a cool unique way to get in shape.

Massaging Backpack Takes a Weight Off Your Shoulders

Everybody loves to sit in one of relaxing back massage chairs and we’ve all seen those portable plug-in massagers that you can place on any chair. But it’s impractical to have to roll around in a chair all day long to get the back massage when you need, where you need. Plus you need really long extension cords.

The massaging backpack solves that problem by giving you massages on demand, anywhere you are. And with a wired remote, you can adjust the level of massage without having to take the pack off. Sounds relaxing to me.

USB Powered Facemask

From Thanko Japan comes the USB Facemask. The mask has a built in fan to expel any moisture which allows you to wear the mask comfortably for longer periods of time. The translation is a bit wonky but I think you can use the USB to charge up an internal battery and there’s a wired remote where you can adjust the fan settings. And it relieves stress. Or I could be totally off and you need to be within 4 feet of your computer at all times to use this. Either way, I wouldn’t expect to see this in the States anytime soon unless Michael Jackson’s coming to town.

Bad Breath Checker Keeps You Freshy Fresh All Day

From Japan comes the “Etiquette Checker“, an electronic bad breath detection device. You breathe into the LCD backlit gadget and it gives you a bad breath rating score from 1 (kiss her!) to 6 (you could kill somebody with that). It costs almost $60, or the price of several years supply worth of breath mints. The Etiquette Checker can also measure your alcohol level…so if you’re too drunk to drive but the breath is still fresh, why not take a cab back to her place- there’s no excuse.

Ergo Chair Will Improve Your Posture

Dr Riter’s ErgoChair is an ergonomic chair designed to help you improve your posture. The egg shaped “seat” part can be inflated and deflated to fit the individual user. It can also be removed to be used in stretching exercises. The whole thing looks like something Mork would sit in while waiting for Mindy to come home in her Jeep with Jonathan Winters.

Suction Cup Flowerpot for your Car

Unless you drive a VW Bug with the built in flower holder, we could all use a little plant life in our vehicles. The problem with putting a normal flower pot in your car on the dashboard is that you drive like maniac, taking turns like you’re in Nascar and the plant tends to slide off and smash on the floor, getting dirt all over your car’s floor.

These problems have been solved with the Mobile Planter that allows you to bring the outdoors to you by attaching an arm with a suction cup to your windshield. Except that your car is always parked outside anyway, but that’s besides the point. As you know, plants are a great source of oxygen and will kep to clean the air inside your car. Now you can do refresh your breath and still drive like a maniac. So step on it buddy!

Water Bottle Personal Humidifier

A humidifier can help your breathing by keeping the air humid and not allowing you to dry out, which is often a problem when traveling. The problem with traveling is that most humidifiers are massive- too big to cart around with you from hotel room to hotel room. This personal humidifier solves that problem by eliminating the water tank which is the bulkiest part of the contraption. Instead of a built-in water source, you can screw in any standard size water bottle to use as the water source. It comes with 2 adapters to fit any water bottle. It’s small enough to fit in any suitcase or on a small shelf or nightstand. Now you can breathe easy even when you’re away from home.

Steam Spa Puts You in a Tent Inside Your House

We all want to look younger and have great skin but at what price? No, not at what price in terms of money, I’m talking about at what price to your personal dignity? Maybe you’re willing to put a mud mask on with cucumbers over your eyelids. Stick your feet into one of those ionic foot baths? Or wrap yourself up in gauze like a mummy. But are you willing to put on a ridiculous plastic rainhat hat and zip yourself up into a steam filled tent inside your own home?

The Steam Spa brings all the benefits of a sauna into your home. You strip down naked or nearly nude, somehow finagle yourself into the tent, put on the silly hat, and hook up the steam unit hose. Then sit back and relax and detoxify. Or squat uncomfortably, since it’s totally unclear as to whether or not the Steam Spa is mean to go over a chair or stool- it doesn’t look big enough to accommodate much more than just a body. Whatever the case, just make sure you’re not expecting any visitors since it might be a bit awkward to answer the door wearing nothing but a Steam Spa tent.

Nail Clipper with Build In Lighter

This crazy gadget is either a lighter with a built in nail clipper or a nail clipper with a built in lighter, depending on what your priorities are. Sometimes in this world there is an obvious need to combine two things into one- like chocolate and peanut butter for instance. And in other instances there is no obvious need to combine: there is no conceivable way you would ever be using the dual functions of the clipper lighter around the same time. In fact you wouldn’t even store these two gizmos if they were separate in the same place. Presumably you would keep your name clipper in the bathroom and your lighter anyplace else. For whatever reason these two items are no available as a 2 in 1 and it’s all a deal at under $3 so go for it.

Universal Scale for Unique Weighing Situations

The Universal Scale from designer Shu-Hung Yeh makes it little easier to weigh those who are difficult to weigh. The scale is flexible and can range from flat to chair shaped enabling the user to be weighed in a variety of positions from seated to lying down to standing. Potential uses are for the handicapped and infirmed who are unable to manipulate themselves onto a standard scale.

Mouse with Built In USB Fan

Anyone who uses their computer for long periods of time either at work, surfing the web (or surfing the web while at work-but you wouldn’t do that now would you?!), or hardcore gaming will eventually get sweaty palms. Not me of course, they call me Ice Hands Jeff. But normal mere mortal people will get hot and sweaty in the hand area.

Until now there was nothing you could do about it, except carry around a sweat towel over your shoulder like a fat rapper. With this new 3 button optical scroll mouse with built in fan, you can avoid embarrassing hand sweat. There is a 2 inch fan embedded right in the palm of the mouse to help cool you down. This is also a good treatment for palmar hyperhidrosis, which is the medical name for the sweaty palms condition (and would also make a great name for your baby: Palmar Hyperhidrosis Smith… go for it). So keep those hands

Ottoman Converts to Self Contained Exercise Bench

he ottoman that converts into an exercise bench is an interesting concept designed for anyone who doesn’t have the space to dedicate to an exercise room or even an area. It would be ideal for apartment dwellers. The whole thing packs up into a normal sized and pretty nice looking ottoman but it unfolds in a few different ways to become an entire self contained gym. Best of all, it’s already positioned right in front of your TV for an entertaining workout.

Even the weights are contained within the ottoman. Which probably means it’s extremely heavy and difficult to move. But that shouldn’t be a problem since you’ll be working out frequently with your in-home exercise equipment. Well, except for the first few months while you’re still a puny girlie man. Until then, have your burly mover guys set it up in the right spot unless you want to take out each individual weight to move it. On second thought, maybe this isn’t such a good idea.

Minox Suntimer UV Radiation Monitoring Watch

This Minox Suntimer watch just might save your life. Summer’s here and the days are hot and it’s nice to get out in the sun. But watch out for those UV rays! Stay out too long and you will not only end up with a nasty sunburn- you could be putting your life in danger! Skin damage is no joke people. With the Minox Suntimer, UV Radiation Monitor, Watch & Stopwatch All-in-1 Combo you can easily monitor your solar exposure to keep the damage to a minimum.

The Suntimer estimates the maximum amount of safe exposure time to sunlight by using special sensors that measure the amount of ultraviolet radiation in the sunlight based on it’s intensity. You can program in a profile that the watch will remember, detailing your skin type and SPF of the sunscreen you typically use. The watch will then determine your optimum time to stay in the sun. An alarm will sound when it’s time to get out of the sun.

The Suntimer will adjust your amount of exposure time dynamically based on the sunlight it receives. If you go inside for a while or into the shade, it adds on time. If the sun gets stronger, the time allotted decreases. The watch is also water resistant to 33 feet. This makes the Suntimer ideal for many outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, fishing, biking, skiing or just being a spectator.

USB Soda Can Humidifier

The Soda Can shaped USB Humidifier will keep your skin moist and fresh as long as you’re within several feet of your computer. Unlike the water bottle humidifier this one uses small absorbent sticks to provide the moisture. It’s small enough to pack with you for traveling. Why they chose the form factor of a Japanese soda can, we’ll never know. If it was me, I would have chose something more humidifier-like as the shape. But perhaps that’s why I never made it in the humidifier design field (despite my advanced degree in humidifier engineering).

Geospace Kickaroos Anti-Gravity Boots Sends Your Kids Flying

Kickaroos from Geospace are sort of like a pogo-stick meets a ski-boot. They allow your kids (or light adults, as the large size is rated for up to 143 lbs) to bound through the air. How fun does that look?! You strap the kickaroos right over your sneakers and bounce on down the road. The high traction treads are safe for indoor or outdoor surfaces… just watch your head indoors!!! These fun gizmos will build coordination, strengthen leg muscles and burn calories.

A few different sizes and styles are available at Amazon: Kickaroos

PureCart Sanitizes Grocery Shopping Carts

The PureCart system is like a carwash for shopping carts. It’s probably needed since the average cart handle has upwards of a million germs on it. The system uses a quick-drying sanitizing wash to clean and disinfect the carts inbetween uses. The cost per wash is only 1-2 cents after the initial purchase price of the system. But a healthy customer is a repeat customer, so I’d like to see these systems installed at supermarkets near me…soon.
